American Band Does KPOP?  2NE1 – Lonely Neo-Soul Remix by DTMG

That’s right, American group DTMG (Dave Tauler Music Group), has been bitten by the Kpop bug.  DTMG is an ever-changing collective of musicians and artists who work interchangeably to address a variety of musical styles and genres.  With a list of accolades a mile long, it’s easy to understand how impressive DTMG is to the average American Kpopper.

The group’s leader and mastermind, Dave Tauler, has spent a lifetime perfecting his musical career. DTMG’s multi-talented leader speaks three languages (English, Korean, Spanish) and plays 28 different musical instruments. He’s also been the winner of both the John Lennon Songwriting Award and Amateur Night at the world renowned Apollo Theater.

Tauler’s list of accomplishments doesn’t just end there. He not only won Amateur Night, but also went on to compete for the title of Super Top Dog, Amateur of the Year as well. Tauler’s songwriting has been featured in the off-Broadway production of Faces. He’s performed with Kim Bum Soo, the first Kpop artist to ever chart in the US, and was a judge at Korean American Teens singing competition in DC that saw the singing debut of Park Yoochun, known globally of course as Micky of the Kpop legend DBSK/TVXQ.

Why are U.S. Kpop fans so excited about DTMG? The above photo says it all. Tauler recently came across YG Entertainment‘s super group 2ne1‘s music video of their smash hit Lonely and was captivated. He was so moved by the song that he endeavored to pay the song and the artists the highest respect by creating an original neo-soul remix of Lonely in their honor.  The remix was released for Valentine’s Day via DTMG’s official YouTube today.
